Module 1 · Lesson 1

You Are Not a Career Changer

5–7 minutes · Audio
Audio lesson · MP3
The core reframe

You are not a career changer.

The moment you describe yourself as one, your offer ceiling drops before anyone has said a number out loud.

The single biggest mistake pivoters make — the one that costs them tens of thousands of dollars before they ever reach a negotiation — is calling themselves a career changer.

You are not new. You are pulling on decades of real experience. The field has a different label now. That's a language problem. Not an experience problem.

Paid to Pivot is the system for professionals who refuse to start over. No transferable-skills thinking. No "find your passion." No apology for where you've been. You bring a through-line, a translation engine, and a playbook for the interview and negotiation most people fumble in the first thirty seconds.

Why this course exists

The reason pivoters take pay cuts isn't their skills.

It's their framing.

Most career-change advice tells you to "find your transferable skills." Wrong layer. Transferable skills thinking traps you inside the tools and tasks you've used — and those usually don't translate cleanly, because different fields use different tools.

What translates is the underlying problem you solve. The capability that has shown up in every role you've held, regardless of title or domain. That works in finance. In ops. In product. In strategy. In AI. Anywhere decisions depend on interpretation.

Paid to Pivot teaches you how to find that capability, translate it for the new field, rebuild your resume around it, handle the interview, and negotiate the offer — without ever taking a pay cut on the way across.

What's inside

Four modules.
26 lessons.
The whole system.

Everything I've used across four real pivots, at real companies, with real outcomes. No filler. No "journey" language. Just the playbook.

01

The No-Pay-Cut Pivot

10 lessons · 75–95 min

The flagship module. The full interview and negotiation system — mindset, preparation, artifact, offer response, walk-away criteria.

  • The through-line that turns multiple pivots into one coherent career
  • The bespoke interview artifact and the exact phrase that deploys it
  • The 5% negotiation rule + the never-negotiate-verbally response script

Plus 7 more lessons inside — research minimums, contract-to-FTE playbook, recruiter advocacy, walk-away criteria.

Tools insideThrough-Line Finder + Story Bank Builder + Offer Response Drafter
02

The Skill Translation Engine

8 lessons · 55–70 min

How to make your existing experience count in a new field — ethically, without fabrication. The resume rebuild. The rewording rule. The title downgrade.

  • Find your problem, not your skills
  • Rebuild your resume from scratch (the three-session method)
  • The title downgrade: Director → Senior IC for a $10K raise

Plus 5 more lessons inside — the rewording rule, the three-step pivot, strategic credentials, and the LinkedIn move most people get wrong.

03

The Honest Audit

4 lessons · 30–40 min

The diagnostic module. Should you pivot at all? And toward what? Boredom signals, market filters, emotional sobriety.

  • The two signals — boredom plus external-field decline
  • Pivots are logical, not emotional — stabilize before pivoting
  • The market filter — three criteria a target field has to meet

Plus the honest-but-neutral audit of your current role inside.

Tool insidePivot Advisor
04

The Landing

4 lessons · 30–40 min

The execution module. Build the bridge before you need it, search while employed without blowing up your current job, land in a way that sticks.

  • Build the bridge inside your current job — before you need it
  • The stealth search — how to look without blowing up your current job
  • The first 90 days that make the pivot stick

Plus the confidence filter inside — how to know you're actually ready to jump.

What's included

Listen like a private podcast. Execute with the toolkit.

Designed for real life. Listen while walking, driving, cleaning, or commuting. Then sit down and complete the exercises when you're ready. This is not a video course you have to stare at. It's an audio-first playbook built for busy mid-career professionals.

01

Private podcast feed — all 26 lessons

One private feed, delivered to your phone (the 26 lessons plus short module intros and recaps). Add it to Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, or another app that supports private feeds. Pause and resume like a normal podcast. No login required to listen.

02

Members portal

Your home for the work. Worksheets, transcripts, lesson cards, scripts, AI tools, and the in-portal audio player as backup if you want to listen at your desk.

03

26 fillable worksheets

One per lesson. Fillable right in your browser, on any device — nothing to download or install. Through-line map, story bank, negotiation template, walk-away criteria — all there.

04

26 one-page lesson cards

Printable study reference. Each card distills the lesson into the core idea, the one action, the script, and the line to remember. Take them with you to interviews if you want.

05

Full lesson transcripts

Every audio lesson, in writing. Skim, search, re-read, or quote back to yourself. Drop them into your AI of choice when you want a second pass.

06

The Paid to Pivot Toolkit — 6 tools

Through-Line Finder. Resume Rewriter. Story Bank Builder. Offer Response Drafter. Pivot Advisor. Pivot Tracker. The first five are AI prompt generators — works with Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini (free tiers fine). No API keys. No subscriptions. The tools are where you build the actual outputs the system gets you paid for.

07

Resume, interview, and negotiation scripts

The exact templates: the 15-second answer, the offer-response email, the bespoke artifact deploy phrase, the recruiter bullets. Copy, customize, send.

08

Lifetime access + updates

One-time purchase. Every future revision — new audio, new tools, new worksheets — is included at no extra cost.

How access works

Two links. One simple split.

After purchase, you'll get two links: one to your course portal and one to your private podcast feed. The podcast feed lets you listen on your phone in your normal podcast app. The course portal gives you the worksheets, transcripts, lesson cards, scripts, and AI tools.

Listen layer (your phone)

Add the private feed to Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, or another app that supports private feeds. The 26 lessons appear like a normal podcast — pause, resume, listen at 1.5×, queue them up.

Execution layer (the portal)

When you're ready to do the work, open the portal. Each lesson page has the worksheet, the transcript, the lesson card, and any related script or AI tool. The audio player is also embedded if you prefer listening at your desk.

If you have trouble adding the private podcast feed to your app, use the course portal audio player while you troubleshoot.

Start where it hurts most

26 lessons. One entry point per situation.

You don't have to start at Lesson 1. Pick the path that matches where you are right now.

Recently laid off?
Start with Module 3 (the honest audit), then Module 1. Stabilize before you pivot.
Already interviewing?
Jump to Module 1, Lessons 5–9. Story bank, contract door, bespoke artifact, negotiation.
Rewriting your resume?
Go straight to Module 2. Find your problem, lead with meta-capabilities, rebuild from scratch.
Not sure whether to pivot?
Start with Module 3. Boredom signal, market filter, honest-but-neutral audit.
Currently employed, planning quietly?
Start with Module 4. Build the bridge, run the stealth search, land the first 90 days.
The honest answers

What you're probably thinking.

"I'm too old for a career change."

Your experience is the asset. Not the liability. The system teaches you to frame decades of work as a coherent through-line instead of a "change." Mid-career professionals are the audience this course was built for.

"I don't have transferable skills for the field I want."

You don't need transferable skills. You need a through-line — the underlying capability that has shown up in every role you've held, regardless of title or tools. Module 2 is the engine that finds it and translates it.

"Won't I have to take a pay cut to get in?"

That's the assumption this course is designed to dismantle. I've done this four times. Never taken a pay cut. Every pivot landed at a raise. The system attacks the framing problem that causes most pay cuts — not the skills problem you've been told to solve.

"I was just laid off. Do I need this now?"

Yes — but start with Module 3. First rule inside: pivots are logical, not emotional. If you're in panic, stabilize before you pivot. Module 3 teaches you how to tell the difference and what to do in each case.

"$147 is a lot right now."

One 5% negotiation on a $150K offer is about $7,500 — and over five years that's roughly $37,500 in base pay, before it lifts your comp floor everywhere you go after. Module 1, Lesson 9 teaches exactly how to make that ask. I can't promise a number — that depends on you, your field, and your offer. What I can tell you is the math only has to work once for this to be the cheapest decision in your search.

Tactical questions

FAQ

Is this a video course?

No. Paid to Pivot is audio-first by design. You can listen like a private podcast on your phone, then use the worksheets and tools in the course portal to do the actual work.

How do I listen?

After purchase, you'll receive a private podcast link. Add it to a podcast app that supports private feeds — Apple Podcasts, Overcast, or Pocket Casts — and the 26 lessons will appear like a normal podcast you can pause and resume. (Spotify doesn't support private feeds yet.)

Do I still get worksheets?

Yes. The podcast is for listening. The course portal holds the worksheets, transcripts, one-page lesson cards, scripts, and AI tools — everything you need to actually do the work.

Can I listen without using a podcast app?

Yes. Every lesson is also embedded inside the course portal with a built-in audio player. Use whichever fits your day.

Is this self-paced or cohort-based?

Fully self-paced. Lifetime access. You listen on your schedule — whether that's one weekend or three months.

How long will it take to complete?

Audio runtime is roughly 3.5–4 hours. If you do the worksheets alongside — which you should — plan on 10–15 hours total to finish the program and apply it meaningfully. Most people listen during commutes, walks, or while driving, then sit down for the worksheet later.

Why audio instead of video?

Because this is a thinking, reframing, writing, and execution course. You don't need to watch me. You need to absorb the system, then sit down and do the work — write your through-line, rebuild your resume, draft your offer-response email. Audio fits that better than video. You listen on a walk; you execute at your desk.

Does this work if I'm currently employed?

Yes. Module 4 covers the stealth search specifically — how to interview while still employed, how to use your current role as a runway, and how to land cleanly without blowing up your current job.

Does this work for every field?

It works for most knowledge-worker pivots. It doesn't work for regulated fields with multi-year credential gates (law, medicine, clinical work, some engineering). If you're pivoting inside or adjacent to knowledge work, ops, strategy, data, product, design, writing, AI, or consulting — this course is built for you.

Is this for people early in their careers?

Not really. The system is built for people with 10+ years of experience who are tired of being told that changing careers means starting over. If you're in your first five years of work, most of the leverage in this course won't apply to you yet.

Do founding buyers get the final version?

Yes. Founding buyers get lifetime access — including every future update, polish, and addition at no extra cost. The $147 founding price is available through July 17, 2026; it returns to $297 after that.

What's your refund policy?

It's an action-based guarantee: do the work, and if it doesn't deliver, you don't pay. Complete Modules 1 and 2 in full — every lesson plus their worksheets and exercises — and if it hasn't changed how you frame your next move, email your completed worksheets to info@paidtopivot.com within 14 days of your purchase and I'll refund you in full. Requests after 14 days, or without your completed Module 1 and 2 worksheets, aren't eligible. Note: a refund also ends your access to the course. Full details on the Refund Policy page.

You don't need a reinvention. You need the playbook.

The next role you take should pay more than this one. This is how.
